We are a community church where a wonderful diversity of people serve, pray and grow to follow Jesus.
We are delighted to welcome you to St Margaret New Toronto! Come as you are and as you feel comfortable. We are a wheelchair accessible, diverse, affirming and welcoming community that is called to serve, pray and grow to love God, our neighbours and ourselves. We love to laugh, eat, serve and worship together.
St Margaret’s is a community of justice and hospitality, where the hungry are fed, the homeless find shelter; the lonely find community and where the love of God is extended to all. Every week, the people of St Margaret’s worship God, who comes to us in Jesus.

Why Church?
Jesus created the church over 2000 years ago. The Parish of St. Margaret has existed for over one hundred years to carry on the mission of Jesus. The church is God’s idea for reaching and reclaiming God’s people. The church is not the building; it is the gathered people of God who confess the power of the risen Christ over their lives. We are the church as we serve, pray and grow to love God, our neighbour and self. We are the church as we welcome the stranger, visit the sick, learn and worship together.

Meet the Team
Rev. Jacqueline Daley
Reverend Jacqueline Daley, Incumbent: The Reverend Jacqueline Daley was ordained a priest in the Diocese of Toronto in 2015. She is an undergraduate of Wilfred Laurier University; Carleton University, MSW and obtained her Mdiv from Wycliffe College in 2004. Jacqueline is an African, Caribbean Canadian, mother of Nya and daughter of Cherry. She has a passion for hospitality and for sharing the liberating and inclusive gospel of Jesus to all. Her favourite passage: “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last…” John 15:16
Rev. Jess Dowling
My name is Jess Dowling (she/her) and I am 35 years old. I live with my wife Michelle, and our cat, Puck, in Bloor West Village in West Toronto. I am thrilled to serve as the Assistant Curate at St Margaret. My first career is in nursing, and I moved to Toronto from Ottawa 9 years ago to work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Eating Disorder Program at SickKids. For the past four years, I have been working part-time as a frontline nurse in adolescent psychiatry and eating disorders at SickKids while I complete my Masters of Divinity through Trinity College University of Toronto. I have also been participating in the Companions program through the Sisterhood of St. John the Divine (SSJD). In my spare time, I enjoy reading, biking, paddling, archery, and going to the theatre.
Jennifer Anazodo, People's Warden
Jennifer Anazodo is African born. She has been at SMNT since June 2019. Jennifer was baptized, confirmed and married in the Anglican Communion in Nigeria. She also attained the leadership position as a mother in the Anglican communion, Nigeria. She holds a bachelors and masters degrees in industrial and labour relations. She has spent over two decades in various positions in banking. At SMNT, Jennifer has served as a member of the choir and as a counter and leads the Lay Readers ministry. She is also an intercessor, committed participant of zoom church, bible study and is always willing to support whenever called upon. She is wife and mother of 4 children.
Linda Elkerton, Rector's Warden
The Parish of St. Margaret New Toronto has been Linda’s family church for most of her life. Being a greeter is one of the ways she enjoys this congregation. To date, four generations of my family have had a small part of the 115 years that we will be celebrating this year.
Susan King, Deputy Warden
Susan King is a faithful and long-time member of St Margaret and has served in many different roles over the years, she is always willing to serve when called upon. She has previously served as warden and continues to serve as choir member and chancel guild member. She is a devoted mother to Torrie and daughter-in-law to Grace.
Cristal Benn, Deputy Warden
Cristal has lived in the neighborhood for 9 years with her family. She recently returned to the St Margaret's family in 2020 to baptize her daughter and is now serving as deputy warden and zoom tech. She immigrated to Canada at the age of 9 from Trinidad and Tobago and has lived in Canada since. Cristal attended the University of Windsor and currently works as a public servant. She was baptized and confirmed in the Anglican Church; church was an integral part of her upbringing and she strives to provide a similar upbringing to her family. She enjoys the outdoors, and spending time with her family
